We need help with really reaching out to the community and getting the word about Stuff the Sleigh about a month before leading up to the event. We need help with people putting up flyers at local retailers and restaurants.
Additionally, in the past, we have worked with the local schools to get the kids involved with Stuff the Sleigh. As part of the mission of Stuff the Sleigh, not only do we want to help those kiddos with cancer and their families, but we also want to actually help those families and kiddos that are giving. We want people to learn what the spirit of Christmas and what giving is all about. This is a charity and cause that we want to teach the youth of Katy what it means to give and give selflessly. Stuff the Sleigh is a great vehicle to do this.
Thus, we want to work closely with Wolman Elementary to come up with some sort of event/s that the kids can involved with. For example, in the past, we worked with Odessa Kilpatrick with their “Pay It Forward” project. One grade took on Stuff the Sleigh as their project. The principal gave the grade $200 to use toward the project and then whatever funds they generated, they donated to their cause. Well, our grade purchased $200 of poinsettias from Lowe’s (at cost) and then the kids of that grade went out into the community to sell the poinsettias. They then took some of that money to buy more poinsettias and then sold those. That grade raised over $1,000+ to give to Stuff the Sleigh. In addition, we wanted the kids to experience what giving back was and we got them actively involved in the process by helping to wrap the gifts for the kiddos with Stuff the Sleigh. We had an entire grade and their moms and dads helping to wrap gifts for Stuff the Sleigh. Kids and their parents got into the spirit of giving and really understood and enjoyed giving back. There was Christmas music playing and all of the teachers, kids and parents were involved. It was wonderfully amazing chaos.
We need people to help coordinate something like this with Wolman Elementary, as they have been really instrumental last year with Stuff the Sleigh. We need help with other community outreach things such as this. Get creative. This is your baby to get behind.
